Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where is Guest Parking?
There are several parking spots marked “Guest Parking” right in front of the church on the south side, right in front of the front door. Coming in to East Mt from the south on Pine Tree (1845) turn left at church & spots will be on your right.

2. What is There for my Kids?
On Sunday mornings, we have a fully staffed nursery & preschool department that runs concurrently
with our Sunday School & Worship times. Those rooms all connect & there is ample security as well as
trained personnel. We have Sunday School classes for all ages. Children’s classes: Pre-K, Kindergarten,
1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade.
Because we believe it’s important for families to worship together, children join their families for Praise
& Worship, then just before the sermon, they are dismissed to go with their leaders to Children’s
Church, held in the gym. Here, they will participate in kid-sized activities that teach the truths of God’s
Word.
During the school year (August through September), we have Mountain Adventure Camp (MAC) and
Awana every Wednesday. MAC is an after-school program for children in K-6th grade, from 3:45pm –
5:45pm, bridging the time between school and Awana. Awana starts at 6pm and follows the Awana
curriculum. Awana is a global, nonprofit ministry committed to the belief that the greatest impact for
Christ starts with kids who know, love and serve Him.

3. How do I Join the Church?
That is a good question. At the end of every Sunday morning service (sometimes Sunday nights as well) we have time called invitation when folks are invited to make decisions about their lives based on what God is teaching/saying to them. That is the time to come speak with the pastor privately at the front of the worship center about committing to EMBC. You are also welcome to make an appointment during the week to come by office to speak with the pastor & ask any questions you may have.

All members of EMBC must have a personal relationship with Christ which begins by praying & asking Christ to come into your life. If you have done that, you are already part of the family of God. That decision is followed by baptism, following the example of Jesus Himself.

If you are a member of another Southern Baptist church, you may ask to have your membership transferred from that church to EMBC. If you are a member of church of another denomination, just speak with the pastor about taking that step.

4. How do I Join a Group?
We have several ministry groups you can be a part of, from Sunday School/Bible study classes to men’s & women’s ministries to senior ministries & music ministries. You will find information about these groups on this website. The easiest way is just to show up, go to a class, come to a promoted meeting. It really is as simple as that. Then jump in & get after it!

5. How do I get Involved in Sunday School Ministry or other Forms of Leadership?
Most ministries at EMBC are simply step up & do. But, when it comes to leadership in those areas we do like to be comfortable with those who are leading in reference to their beliefs & abilities. So, we do ask that folks be an official part/member of EMBC for at least 1 year before we consider them for leadership positions.

6. What Denomination is EMBC Affiliated With?
We are part of the Southern Baptist Convention, a national denomination that is made up over 50,000 churches across the United States, representing approximately 16 million people. We are also involved in worldwide missions through the SBC through the International Mission Board & the North American Mission Board, uniting us in global missions with over 8,000 missionaries in more than 150 countries.

We are also a part of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, a state convention made up over 2,600 Southern Baptist churches in the state of Texas that are conservative in doctrine & belief.

Finally, we are part of the Greater East Texas Baptist Association, a local grouping of churches in the east Texas area that are all uniquely SBTC aligned.

In relation to all of these, EMBC stands as an autonomous local church which chooses to participate in these three entities.
